There was to be nothing gimmicky in this library, just a stylish and welcoming space that would encourage children to linger and enjoy simply being there. The finished product hits the brief on all levels and was delivered in super quick time so that it was ready for the very special visitor! We think the smile on her face says it all. BUDGET: £9,000 SIZE OF ROOM: 6m x 4.2m BOOKSTOCK: 2000 BRIEF: • Unique space with plenty of wow factor • Zones and nooks • Colourful palette • A range of different units DESIGNER’S NOTES: The challenge with this library was to deliver something with impact in a smaller space, as well as creating a zoned feel with two distinct areas. The archway through the shelving links the reading corner with the larger space beyond. Stepped shelving with vibrant accessories adds interest and a custom den with feature graphic provides a showstopping focal point to ensure this room definitely punches above its weight. 9 8
