MONKSMOOR PARK CE PRIMARY LIBRARY AND BREAKOUT SPACES

MONKSMOOR PARK CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Monksmoor Park CE School in Daventry was a newly opened school when we were asked to come and design a library and some breakout spaces for them.

They wanted a library that would provide a 'wow' factor to encourage parents to enrol their children and some break out and intervention spaces to optimise their large communal areas.

Their brief was to make the most of their fabulous position on the edge of countryside and bring nature into the school. They wanted a palette of colours that complemented their logo and to bring some of the school ethos into the design in some way.

We provided a bespoke design that both they and us were delighted with and certainly ticked all the boxes in their brief.

In the library a unique tree feature was designed and built that incorporated reading areas of a den, a mock swing and a garden bench alongside the curvaceous branch book display spaces. This established the 'bringing the outside in' theme of our designs for the entire school.

Shelving and book display is incorporated in several sizes and types to allow for browsing and reading for all age groups.

Separate seating areas allow for several groups to use the library at once without causing distraction.

"We are very proud of our new Library"

There are several areas in the library that encourage book discovery and sharing and also make story time a really special event.

Intervention and break out spaces in the communal areas continue the nature theme with seating and shelving reinforcing the schools branding by pulling out colours used in the school's logo.  Further school branding and motivational messages are introduced with wall graphics including the 'values tree', 'friendly forests' and quote graphics.
